November may be the best month to find discounts on just about everything.
Holiday sales begin in early October, with major events at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and other retailers. Once those are over, sales come and go all the way through until Black Friday at the end of November. Of course, Black Friday and Cyber Monday (Dec. 1 this year) are still expected to have the best deals of the year. But with many shoppers planning to spread out their spending this year, retailers are offering bigger discounts throughout the month. They’ll come and go, so you’ll need to keep an eye on prices and be prepared to act quickly when things go on sale. But if you’re on top of your game, you can find big savings all month.
To help you shop smarter, Consumer Reports tracks prices of everything we test to let you know when they’re at great low prices. In addition to popular gifts such as televisions, headphones, air fryers, and cookware, you’ll also see sales on large appliances and mattresses, especially around Veterans Day, on Nov. 11.
Our data has shown that 46 kinds of products we test reach their lowest prices this month. We’ve highlighted 10 of the most popular items. You can also check out the latest deals at the CR Deals Hub, where we’ll be updating you on Black Friday deals throughout the month.
TVs
The holidays are a great time to find a deep discount on a new TV. Usually, you’ll find that the biggest sales happen on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But in the past few years, we’ve seen big discounts starting earlier in the month, and this year is no different.
With countless options available, it pays to do some research before heading to a store or shopping online. There are plenty of highly rated models in our ratings from brands such as LG, Samsung, Sony, and TCL.
Our TV buying guide will help you get the biggest bang for your buck, no matter how much you want to spend. Consult our TV ratings to learn more about the different features and find a model that suits you.
The Samsung QN65Q8F, a 65-inch midtier model in Samsung’s 2025 QD-OLED lineup, is among the best sets you can buy, with impressive overall picture quality, top-notch high dynamic range, and great sound. (Samsung TVs support HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos sound, but not Dolby Vision HDR.) This set supports a maximum 4K 144Hz refresh rate, as well as Auto Low Latency Mode and a variable refresh rate.
The Hisense 75U8QG, which typically retails for around $1,900, is a higher-end 2025 4K ULED set, positioned just below the flagship Hisense U9QG model. It performed very well in our picture quality tests and offers great high dynamic range performance. (It supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ HDR formats.) It has lots of features, including a Mini LED backlight with local dimming, a 165Hz native refresh rate, and support for Dolby Atmos audio. The 4.1.2-channel speaker system delivers great sound. The set uses the Google TV smart system, with built-in Google Assistant.
This 55-inch 4K TV is from Amazon’s step-up Omni series for 2024. It does well for overall picture quality, but not as good for high dynamic range. It does have a wider-than-average viewing angle for an LCD set. It’s a QLED model with a Mini LED backlight, which can help boost contrast and improve black levels. It supports Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10+ HDR and a 144Hz variable refresh rate for gaming.

Vacuums
Vacuums, including robotic vacuum cleaners, can make great gifts for the right people, and you’ll find lots of discounts on top models around the holidays. This is also an ideal time to finally replace your old appliance with an upgrade or surprise someone with a fancy new model, especially if you’re hosting guests for Thanksgiving or other holidays.
With so many types of vacuums to choose from, it can be challenging to determine the best option for your home. To make the choice easier, review our vacuum cleaner buying guide and our vacuum ratings to select the right brand and model for your budget.
The Tineco Floor One S7 Pro Smart Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner shines at cleaning up wet messes like cereal and milk, and it does a solid job of removing dried-on food stains. It has a battery life longer than you’ll find in many of its competitors, and its self-cleaning features are convenient.

Laptops, Chromebooks, and Computers
Laptops, Chromebooks, and computers make great gifts for the holidays, so this could be a great time to get a new device without paying full price. There’s a lot to consider when buying a new laptop or desktop, including the processor power, the amount of memory, and the screen size. If you’re in the market for a desktop, you can choose between all-in-ones or those that require the purchase of a monitor and keyboard separately. When it comes to laptops and Chromebooks, the size and weight may make all the difference, or battery life might be a paramount consideration.
Start your search with CR’s computer buying guide and recommended models to find a options that fit your needs and budget.
The Asus Vivobook 16 isn’t flashy, but it covers the basics really well, especially at this price. It earns top marks for portability and ergonomics, making it a great pick for students or remote workers who value comfort and a lightweight build. Performance and display are average, but with a roomy 16-inch screen and solid all-around versatility, it offers a lot for the price.
This 14-inch Lenovo laptop weighs next to nothing—2.9 pounds, to be precise—and delivers nearly 19 hours’ worth of battery life per charge. Our testers note that it’s not the fastest Chromebook you’ll see, but if you’re just doing typical Chromebook-y tasks, that shouldn’t be much of an issue. It was around $170 during the last big sale, so you may want to wait to see whether the price drops back down closer to Black Friday.

Air Fryers
Air fryers make great gifts for those who love to cook, and you’ll find plenty of discounts on these countertop appliances. But with so many models and sizes out there, it’s especially important to check out your options before you buy.
Among the models CR has tested, there was no discernible difference in the food the testers made. But some air fryers had easier controls, were easier to clean, or were quieter than others, so it’s worth taking a closer look at what each model has to offer beyond the price.
Learn more about the various features and other factors to consider in CR’s air fryer buying guide, then take a look at the recommended models to find the best one for you (or for someone else).
The large Cuisinart AIR-200 has a window and a light so you can see your food cooking, and its large 6-quart capacity means there’s enough room to cook for a crowd or to air-fry an entire meal. Touchscreen controls come with five cooking presets, including one for frozen snacks and another for leftovers, and a toss reminder alerts you when it’s time to flip your food. The AIR-200 also comes with a generous three-year warranty.
The Dash Tasti-Crisp is small but mighty. At a measured capacity of 1.9 quarts and an overall size of less than a square foot, this 6-pound model is one of the most compact air fryers in our ratings. Still, it ranks among the best. It earns solid scores for controls and cleaning, and excels in our noise test. It shares the honor of being the quietest air fryer in our ratings with its analog counterpart, the Dash Express Tasti Crisp. It has a one-year warranty, which is typical for most models.

Headphones
Headphones are always a popular gift around the holidays, and you can often find great deals on top models this month. The best deals, especially on top models from brands like Sony, Apple, and Bose, traditionally roll out around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but you can expect to see various sales and savings all month.
Whether you’re looking for true wireless earbuds or a comfy pair of over-the-ear headphones that offer noise cancellation, it’s important to research brands and models to make sure that the pair you buy will have the features you’re looking for.
Consumer Reports tests headphones in our labs to measure volume, noise cancellation, sound quality, and battery life. Before you start shopping, review our recommended models to familiarize yourself with the best options.
The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e over-ear headphones are at the best price we’ve seen in months. They rank among the best noise-canceling headphones CR has tested. They have strong bass and an open distortion midrange, and the noise cancellation is also top-notch.
The AirPods Pro 2 sound good and offer effective noise canceling, including a transparency mode that pipes in outside sound so that you’re not fully cut off from the world while out walking. Better yet, Apple says, a free over-the-air upgrade later this year will allow the model to deliver a clinical-grade hearing test, which can be used to turn them into an over-the-counter hearing aid. They’re almost always available for $200, so when you see them drop down to this price, it’s a good time to buy.

Coffee Makers
Coffee makers are perfect for any caffeine lover on your gift list, and there are loads to choose from, no matter the brewing style or your budget.
Some drip coffee makers sell for under $50, while others that grind the beans or connect with your smartphone can run you well over $200. But you should be able to find the model you want on sale this month.
There are espresso makers and even pod coffee makers that can deliver the barista experience at home. And for the loved one who drinks iced coffee all year, you can often find big discounts on cold-brew makers.
Not sure where to start? Check out CR’s coffee maker buying guide to learn about the different types of machines and explore some of the top models.
The Braun BrewSense 12-Cup Programmable KF7000BK is an all-around great coffee maker, offering strong brewing performance, an easy-to-pour carafe, and plenty of convenient features. They include auto-shutoff, a water filter, programming, a cleaning indicator, and a permanent filter.
The unassuming, inexpensive Hamilton Beach 12-Cup Programmable 49465R might be easy to miss, but it can brew a mean cup of joe at a fantastic price. It has all the essentials in a basic black-plastic finish. It’s programmable and has an auto-shutoff. What’s more, it does a superb job in our brewing test and can make a fresh pot in just 10 minutes. This model gets high ratings for convenience and carafe handling in CR’s lab tests. But it’s worth mentioning that this model is more prone to overflow, unlike some other models we’ve tested.

Smartwatches
You’ll find plenty of big discounts on popular smartwatches from Apple, Google, Samsung, and other brands this month.
Make sure the smartwatch you choose is going to fit your lifestyle. First and foremost, it should be compatible with your smartphone. But do you want one that has its own network connectivity? How about a heart rate monitor? Or the ability to pay for purchases? You should also take into account things like size, battery life, and replacement bands.
Read CR’s smartywatch buying guide to learn more, then check out our ratings to find the best smartwatch for you.
The Apple Watch Series 10 (42 mm) is now a generation old, but it still delivers stellar performance. It has a bright display, fast-charging capabilities, and all the Apple Watch basics, including automatic workout detection and sleep tracking. The larger 46 mm case option is also on sale.
This watch was $50 less at Amazon during the fall sales, so keep an eye out for a price drop in the future.
This previous-generation Pixel Watch 3 has an elegant design, robust health features, and seamless compatibility with the Pixel phone and Google ecosystem. CR’s testers also found the performance of the watch’s heart rate monitoring and step tracking to be excellent.
Amazon sold this watch for $179.99 during Prime Big Deal Days, but Walmart has the lowest price right now.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch7 is a sleek and high-performing pick, particularly if you own a Galaxy phone. It delivers the latest from Samsung in health, fitness, and safety features, including sleep apnea detection, swimming stroke analysis, and daily AI-enabled sleep and energy scores.
We saw this watch sell for $50 less during Prime Big Deal Days, so the price may fall again closer to Black Friday.

Mattresses
Retailers always offer savings for Black Friday, and because of Veterans Day, the deals will start early and last all month. Expect savings from popular mattress brands such as Avocado and Tuft & Needle, as well as sitewide savings at retailers like Mattress Firm.
There’s a lot to consider when buying a new mattress, but your decision will depend mostly on your body type and sleeping habits. Some mattresses are made with organic materials, some incorporate coils and memory foam, and others have special materials like cooling gels. Prices range from a few hundred dollars to well over $2,000, so your budget will affect your choices as well.
You can find out more about bed options by reading CR’s mattress buying guide and reviewing our mattress ratings. A good mattress should last you eight to 10 years, so explore your options and invest in one that will suit your sleeping style for years to come.
The Avocado Eco Organic innerspring mattress-in-a-box is just $30 more than its best price. Avocado is advertising this as a “holiday sale,” but the price may get even lower as we get closer to Black Friday. It earns solid ratings in our tests for support for side and back sleepers. With a firmness score of 4 out of 10, it’s a much softer alternative to the Avocado Green mattress (which rates a 7 and also doesn’t retain heat) and even the Avocado Green Pillowtop (which rates a 5 and does retain heat). In our member surveys, Avocado innerspring mattresses earn very good ratings for comfort and owner satisfaction.
The Leesa Studio mattress is back to its regular sale price, but it typically drops only another $40 or so for bigger holiday sales, so you won’t save that much more by waiting. It’s an exceptional choice for petite back sleepers; it earned top marks in our lab test. Petite side sleepers and average and large/tall back sleepers will find that the mattress offers very good support. But average and large/tall side sleepers may want to consider other options because the Studio had only average performance in those tests.

Home Security Cameras
If you’re working to make your home more secure, consider home security cameras that you can set up yourself and monitor right from your smartphone.
Since smart security cameras first became available, they’ve only become better and more reasonably priced, and this month, you’ll find even better prices. There are indoor and outdoor cameras as well as video doorbells for optimal safety, no matter your needs.
Home security cameras can provide peace of mind by letting you see that your kids arrived home safely from school, the dog walker showed up as scheduled, or a package was delivered. And companies keep making these cameras smarter through software updates that add new features, such as person detection and facial recognition.
But most of the models we’ve tested don’t always deliver the high-definition video quality their manufacturers promise. And many models require you to pay monthly fees for some of the most important features, such as cloud video storage and monitoring zones (the ability to focus on or ignore motion within a designated area of the camera’s field of view).
With so many types of models and features, it can be difficult to know what to look for. Read CR’s home security camera buying guide to narrow down your options and find the best product for your home before you start to look for deals and discounts.
The TP-Link Tapo MagCam C425 is a compact, battery-powered security camera that does well in our tests. It offers local storage with up to a 512-gigabyte microSD card (sold separately) and features person detection, pet detection, vehicle detection, monitoring zones, and more. Best of all, you don’t need a subscription to use any of these features. TP-Link also sells a $40 solar panel that can be connected to the camera to keep its battery charged.
The Arlo Essential 2K (VMC3050-100NAS) is one of Arlo’s most budget-friendly security cameras. It performs well in our tests and features a built-in spotlight, a siren, and voice/app control via Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Additional features, such as activity zones, person detection, and cloud video storage, require an Arlo Secure subscription.

Refrigerators
If you need to replace your refrigerator, you might be able to find a good price in November.
There are so many types and styles to choose from, whether you want a French-door fridge or a more traditional top-freezer model. You’ll also want to consider the style and features of the ideal refrigerator. Do you want a water dispenser? Is freezer capacity important? Are you short on space? Take a look at CR’s refrigerator buying guide to get a better sense of which type of fridge is most ideal for you.
The 33-inch GE GNE25JYKFS is back down to its best price of the year. It’s a strong performer with a ton of useful features. It receives excellent scores for thermostat performance and temperature uniformity, great scores for energy efficiency and ease of use, and satisfactory scores for its noise output (it’s not the quietest fridge but also not the loudest), icemaker performance, and crisper drawer performance. Its many features include an internal water dispenser, a built-in water filter, spillproof shelves, uniquely adjustable shelves that you can raise and lower without removing food, split shelves for better organization, and digital temperature controls.
The LG LT18S2100W delivers strong performance all-around. Given its price, it’s an incredible bargain, and Lowe’s still has the lowest price we’ve seen this year. This refrigerator, 28 inches wide, garners stellar ratings for energy efficiency and thermostat control, and it’s also excellent when it comes to temperature uniformity and noise output, making it one of the quieter top-freezers we’ve tested. But this model receives our lowest rating for ease of use. In surveys of our members, LG top-freezers got a top-notch rating for predicted reliability and a middling score for owner satisfaction.
