Age had caused the boots covering the connections to deteriorate (after all it is over 20 years, and the struts were the original ones). The front-end specialist recommended replacement since the struts were nearing the end of their life expectancy (near 125000 miles,on our local streets) So we replaced them at his recommendation (given our maintenance goals)."
