Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Electric/hybrid battery pack replacement

"Our battery died after about 8 years. I was told these batteries are expected to last 4 years. I am pleased."

Anonymous A., NM (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"hybrid battery completely discharges overnight, charges up and discharges quickly. Gas millage went from about 43 MPG to 35 MPG. Car still drives fine. I don't drive it much (maybe 60 miles a week so may not replace battery. Still investigating replacement cost."

Anonymous, MD (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

"Brought the vehicle into the dealer. Extended guarantee had it replaced."

Anonymous, WA (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"When I try to enter a destination, it automatically picks a nearby address and I can't enter the one I want"

Anonymous A., OR (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

    "Rodent damage of harness"

Anonymous A., FL (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Between October and February, the car went completely dead three different times. It was not the hybrid battery, but the operating system battery. This battery is smaller, not of standard shape, and of different amps than a traditional car battery. I had to call around to several different big box car equipment shops. Two different shops indicated they had the battery and did not . . . one shop didn't realize this until the original battery was out of my car. It is the non-standard size and power of this battery that made it difficult to replace. I refuse to take such matters to the Toyota dealership due to the outrageous costs."

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Premature brake wear

"At less than 50000 miles we have had to have brakes work done. New and a second time by a Toyota dealer so I think they have a material problem with their brakes or they are just have a poor design. I have aways gotten at least 40000 miles or more with other model cars. In fact I have had cars that have gotten as much as 70000 miles before needing brake work."

Anonymous A., NH (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    Engine Minor

Accessory belts and pulleys, engine computer, engine mounts, engine knock or ping, fuel leaks, oil leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Engine computer

"Check engine light on two times last two months, never has this my entire life. I'm thinking of changing service location or trading in the car if this happens again within a year."

Anonymous, NE (2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

A front driveshaft separation would result in a loss of propulsion while driving, and if the driver exits the vehicle without applying the parking brake, the vehicle may roll. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
    Summary:
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2016 Camry Hybrid and Avalon Hybrid vehicles. The front drive shaft may separate.
    What should you do:
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will check the serial number of the vehicle's drive shaft, replacing any that are affected, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is H0M.
