    EV Charging

Won't charge at home; won't work with some public chargers; won't fully charge; charge connection; charge port door.

    What Owners Say

    Charges too slowly

"Charging at home above 9kW would cause charging to stop due to the internal cable throwing an error. The current fix throttles charging to cool the cable down, which adds almost 3 extra hours to the charging process."

Anonymous A., OK (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid charging problem

"I had to buy a 3rd party charging cable since one did not come with the vehicle. I use level 1 charging and program a schedule so that the car doesn't charge during peak hours (4-9pm). Mysteriously, about 30% of the time, the car would not start charging at 9pm when plugged in. After a couple software updates by the dealer, the problem got worse. Now charging won't start about 60% of the time, and it those cases it drains the 12v battery. The first time it happened, the car wouldn't start and I needed a jump. I can plug the car in any time outside the peak hours, and it charges fine. Dealer is baffled."

Anonymous, CA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
Problem with the charging cable/cord that came with this vehicle

"The dealership did not include any charging cables with the vehicle even after I paid $600 for the charging cable they let me drive home with no charging cable. The dealership is over an hour and a half away, and I am a disabled veteran. Due to having no charging cable by the time I got home the vehicle was unable to be driven back to the dealership to get the charging cable and The next day I had a medical surgery done on my back so I couldnt drive anyway. Three weeks later I finally received the charging cable in order to charge a vehicle. I was paying on and a part that I paid for already for three weeks. After dealing with , the Dealership, who did not care at all and speaking with Kia corporate who also gave zero care. I will never buy IKEA again and Im currently waiting to trade this back in just to break even one month later they tried to sell me the EV nine that I had on order , which I originally wanted, but due to the situation that happened with my first vehicle I will never buy another Kia again. But to make matters even worse, Ive own this vehicle for six months and the air conditioner does not work at all and its gonna take four weeks for them to be able to get my vehicle in to be serviced. Its summertime and its almost 100 every day, why would I drive a brand new vehicle with no air conditioning and why would Dealership, or corporate allow a customer to be screwed this badly?"

Anonymous A., NY (2023 Kia EV6 GT Electric)
Won't DC (direct-current) fast charge at all

"When the AC compressor went out, DC fast charging stopped working. Regular charging would also fail, rendering the car useless for over 90 days due to parts shortages."

Anonymous A., OK (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
Won't work with some public chargers

"The problem started 9 months after leasing it. Experienced it all the time. It took Kia 3 months to figure out what the problem was and then to finally fix it."

Anonymous, MA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"Randomly loosing connection. Tightened all connections with no results."

Anonymous, WA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"The amplifier malfunctioned and required replacement after the prescribed software update did not work."

Anonymous A., OH (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"When audio plays it will stop after 2 minutes or so. It may be in the settings in my phone"

Anonymous A., IN (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Radio

"The radio became difficult to turn on. It is under warrantee but the dealer could not fix it on their first attempt. Still waiting. The car is still awesome."

    Anonymous A., ON (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    12V battery

"The EV6 has a serious issue with its ICCU, which is causing drainage of the OEM lead acid 12-volt battery and preventing it from maintaining an adequate state of recharge when re-charged (and ultimately stranding the driver on the side of the road when the ICCU finally fails completely). KIA is refusing the replace OEM lead acid 12-volt batteries under warranty due to this known and still unresolved issue unless and until the vehicle is towed to a dealer when the battery is completely dead. If the owner jump starts the vehicle just to get it to the dealer, the dealer will calim that the 12-volt battery is not dead, and that they will therefore not replace it under warranty."

    Anonymous, MO (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Headlights

"The projected distance and width of projection of the headlights of the U.S. version of the EV6 are both poor. Also, the auto high beam feature is not sensitive enough, to where high beams rarely come on when conditions warrant them being on."

    Anonymous, MO (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    USB port

"USB port unreliable as it frequently disconnects from the infotainment system causing interruption with Apple CarPlay. Dealer unable to solve the issue. Tried different brand new cables and phones and the problem persisted. Try different types of iPhones (15 Pro Max, 14 Plus, etc.) and problem persisted."

Anonymous, FL (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

    What Owners Say

    Shocks or struts

"On a recent road trip to Alexandria VA from CT, a rattle developed in the driver's side rear exterior. The rattle got progressively worse to the point that it became a loud drumming sound that was persistent as long as the car was in motion. It was really bad on rough roads. I took it to the dealership and they found all of the top strut retaining bolts on the rear driver's side strut were extremely loose. They inspected the strut and bushings and determined no damage. Tightened the bolts to proper specs and inspected the rear passenger side which was OK. The problem was resolved to my satisfaction."

    Anonymous A., CT (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)
    Wheel bearings

"During the winter, my passenger side wheel bearing starting to make the sound wheel bearings make when they go bad. I assume because of winter pot holes and such. Still, I've never had such a new car's wheel bearing go bad. Kia initially replaced the driver side wheel bearing because you could hear the sound from the drivers seat (I assume the sound was traveling across the axel up the steering column?). The noise persisted so I had to go back and they replaced the passenger side wheel bearing. Everything was replaced by the warranty so I had zero out of pocket costs, it just took me 4 trips to the dealership to get it completely resolved."

Anonymous A., PA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    Condenser

"Three days after leaving the dealer, we returned because the air conditioner didnt work. It took a month for the problem to be resolved. They provided a loaner car for the last three weeks. It was escalated through several levels of Troubleshooting and Kia almost had to send a rep to California from Washington state to resolve. The dealer removed parts twice from two different Donor EV sixes in their lot to finally get things to work. It is our first all electric car, we bought a Honda Civic hybrid new in 2003 and kept it for 20 years The EV six has more vertical legroom than our CHEVROLET Silverado pick up truck, I really just wish the center console had more room for my right knee however I sat in several Teslas, but was so uncomfortable that I didnt want to drive one."

Anonymous, CA (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other climate system problem

"Brand new vehicle less than six months old and I have no air-conditioning whatsoever and the temperature rises up up to 100 a day"

Anonymous A., NY (2023 Kia EV6 GT Electric)

    Electric Motor

Electric drive failure, replacement or malfunction.

    What Owners Say

Electric drive motor malfunction (didn't need replacement)

"Car was at the dealer for 2 months as it could not hold a charge and/or wouldnt charge. 12v battery replaced, ICCU replaced, software updated several times. Car being bought back by Kia as a Lemon vehicle as per Florida law. Completely unsafe and unreliable."

Anonymous, FL (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid motor problem

"3 months ago, car started lurching and surging with front wheels (rear motor seems powered down) only in highway driving. Problem occurs after driving approximately 1 hour of consecutive 65+ MPH. The problem has been reproduced by a dealer but Kia refuses to fix it because a code is not tripping. The car is not capable enough for road trip unless we stop for a 1/2 after every hour of driving. Very frustrated!!"

Anonymous A., IL (2023 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    Noises/Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Squeaks or rattles

"Loose upper strut fasteners on driver's side rear. Dealer inspected and tightened to specs. Issue resolved"

    Anonymous A., CT (2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

    Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.
