    EV Charging

Won't charge at home; won't work with some public chargers; won't fully charge; charge connection; charge port door.

    What Owners Say

    Charge connection problem

"Overnight charging would stop without finishing. I had to manually re-start the charging, sometimes several times. I ultimately learned through (ChargePoint, not Kia) that I needed to reduce the amperage on my ChargePoint app (or alternatively on the Kia) to avoid overheating of the connection. This slows down the time for charging at home, but it does work. In principle Kia could detect that I'm having trouble and could reach out to me, but that doesn't seem to happen and they have no online help that is satisfactory."

    Charging port problem

"the connector sticks and is difficult to remove"

Anonymous, CA (2022 Kia EV6 Electric)

"Would dc charge but not ac charge. Kia never gave me an answer what was wrong."

Anonymous, GA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"Earlier recall, home level 2 charging would stop well short of the programed charge level. Recall update fixed the immediate issue with the trade-off being a slower charge rate."

Anonymous, GA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid charging problem

"Beginning in March 2023, sometime the car would stop charging at our home level 2 charger. A recall service appointment in May 2023 appears to have fixed it."

Anonymous, FL (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Won't charge at home

"My workplace has a couple of 6 kW level 2 chargers that I was charging my EV6 at within the first year of purchasing the vehicle. There was a short power outage at one point and later that day when I was leaving work I noticed the car had not charged all the way and said something along the lines of "check charging system." I was able to drive home and when I tried to charge from my home charger, it failed to charge. I ended up needing to schedule service with my local Kia dealer, and they had to replace all or part of the charging system, but parts were on backorder so they had to keep the car for over 2 weeks. They did cover a rental car for me the entire time, though, so that was a plus with the Kia warranty."

Anonymous A., CA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
Won't DC (direct-current) fast charge at all

"For the most part, I use AC charging but occasionally I need to DC charge. I was able to fast charge the vehicle two or three times after I bought it, using EVgo And ChargePoint, And also enroll it in EVgo Auto charge / plug to charge And used that once. However, when I tried to do that again, a few weeks later, The charging station would give me an error during the handshake. I tried charging at the exact same DC fast charging stations that previously worked, and they all failed. EVgo What's the only station that gave me more detailed error, Namely, "Connection error Detected" With error code 59 or error code 60 Respectively, During the "checking cable safety" stage of the handshake. However, DC fast charging stations of other manufacturers Also no longer work. No diagnostic trouble codes have been logged by the vehicle, And the DC fast charging station operator support for all of the stations I called support had no details or logging information about my attempted charge and subsequent failure. I am fortunate That AC charging suffices most of the time, otherwise this would be a real big problem. The local Kia dealerships did not have service appointments available for me were sooner than six or seven weeks out. One of them offered to take my Vehicle in on the next day, But they told me once they have my vehicle they will not return it to me until it is fixed, which could take several days to weeks, depending on availability, and they do not have loaners. Kia corporate responded that they cannot control how individual dealerships run their business And offered no support at all. The vehicle is absolutely amazing, But customer service appears to be non-existent."

"KIA made a software change and replaced the cars charging port."

Anonymous, PA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Won't fully charge

"Total charge kept deteriorating until no charging was possible."

Anonymous, NY (2022 Kia EV6 Electric)

"When plugged in and charging with a level 2 charger at home, the car will sometimes stop charging before being fully charged. This happens sporadically. We have not yet taken it to Kia for a diagnosis so unsure what the root cause of the issue is."

Anonymous A., WA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    12V battery

"12V battery failure due to ICCU problem and blown fuse. Vehicle could not operate. Needed to park on shoulder and get towed. Took 10 days to get the parts and fix. No word from the dealer or Kia if this would happen again. Fortunately, they did pay for the fix. I've read that they know it's a problem, and they offer a software fix (which I already got prior to the failure), but there is no plan for a recall or a solution that can prevent it from happening again."

Anonymous, OR (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"12V battery failed entirely. Apparently an internal plate failed. A Kia EV6 is COMPLETELY inert without a functioning 12V battery. Had to have it towed. It took the dealer nearly 3 days to replace the battery."

Anonymous A., CT (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"I had the common problem with the 12V battery charging system. It would not properly charge the 12V battery causing it to drain to where it would not have enough voltage available to power up the vehicle electrical system to start the car. I bought a portable LiIon jump start battery, and could start the car using that connected to the 12V battery. Kia service did a software update on the charging module, which did not completely solve that problem. I had to buy a new 12V battery at my expense, because the 12V battery failure happened a few days after the 12V battery warranty expired. Grrr. Even though the initial charging issue likely caused the battery failure, Kia has not reimbursed me for the 12V battery. Since the 12V battery was replaced, I have had NO issues with this. I did received a Kia recall notice to change out the 12V battery charging module, which I will get done sometime soon."

Anonymous A., MI (2022 Kia EV6 First Edition Electric)

"12v battery failed a few different times, and had to be jumped from a portable 12v source. I replaced the 12v battery myself with an aftermarket 12v battery and have not had any further issues."

    Anonymous A., CO (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.

    What Owners Say

    Loose exterior trim or moldings

"A-pillar molding partially detached. Replaced at no cost"

Anonymous A., CA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other paint & trim problem

"This is a design/engineering defect IMHO. The front "bumper" is too low to clear ordinary parking lot bump blocks. I had the bumper replaced once, and have had to reattach it myself at least 4 times. The Wind does not have a front parking camera which would help here."

Anonymous A., AZ (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"Paint gets chipped much more than my CHEVROLET Volt did"

Anonymous, NM (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"I have a gravity blue and the paint coat is an absolutely razor thin layer on top of the primer. The gentlest scratches go STRAIGHT to the primer. When I originally purchased it, it looked great. Even though I baby the car and it's always in a garage, it now looks terrible. Anytime a person walks too close to my car, it acquires new white lines on my shinny paint. It seems Kia cut corners on their paint job as it's a common complaint."

Anonymous, CA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

"It started within the first 6 months of ownership and happens whenever the phone is connected. A part on order."

Anonymous, VA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

"It disconnects and reconnects as frequently as every few minutes, and it has never worked consistently since purchase User group reports this problem without solution, so I assume it is a defective part"

Anonymous, NM (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    EV Battery

Electric/hybrid battery pack failure, replacement or malfunction, or cooling.

    What Owners Say

Electric/hybrid battery pack malfunction (didn't need replacement)

"ICCU malfunction. Initially resulted in total loss of power and car having to be towed to dealership. Kia dealer could not determine cause after several failed "fixes" and return to dealer they replaced the 12 volt battery. Months later lost motive power while driving and car agin had to be towed to dealer. This time confirmed ICCU defective. There is a backlog and dealer cannot even give me an ETA. Fortunately do have loaner car under warranty until ICCU can be replaced"

Anonymous, OR (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)
    Other electric/hybrid battery problem

"The ICCU & high voltage fuse both failed while the car was charging. This caused my home charger to fail and needed to be replaced. It also caused the car to stop working and required a tow to the dealership to repair. This also tripped the entire house's electrical fuse box. Both the charger and the car were fixed under warranty. It took 3 days to get my car back, during which I was in a vehicle provided by the Kia."

    Anonymous, TX (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    Refrigerant leaks

"O ring leaked refrigerant. Air conditioning no longer cooled car."

    Anonymous, NL (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    Noises/Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Squeaks or rattles

"There is a high pitched squeal when you hit the brakes."

Anonymous, VA (2022 Kia EV6 Electric)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Electrical failure

"Completely inoperable. Main battery @ 44%. No lights, no indicators, completely dark. Jumped 12v battery to enable full use except for the Climate Controls, AC inoperable. Coincided with a charging / power recall from Kia. Kia service reported a capacitor drainage issue with the AC control. Resetting solved the immediate issue. No explanation as to why the 12v would not turn the car on."

Anonymous, GA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)

    Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

    What Owners Say

    Other body problem

"Period annoying squeak from the driver's seat. Dealership service department said they were unable to replicate the issue. I can usually get the squeak to stop by making a minor adjustment to the seat position."

    Anonymous A., CO (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)

    Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.
