    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Engine rebuild or replacement

"Bought used at dealership, so didn't have complete history on vehicle. Started having acceleration and strange exhaust issues so took to dealership for check. Was told head gasket had blown and engine fluids had mixed and wouldn't fix. Also, car was over 10 years old, so not under warranty (even though mileage way under). Was told would replace engine but no repairs and then only guarantee rebuild for 12 months/12,000 miles. Had it towed back home and had reliable mechanic check it. Was told same thing but then informed this particle model/engine type has been having same problem with others. It took mechanic many weeks to find used replacement because was told by Hyundai rebuilds were not available in the foreseeable future."

Anonymous, PA (2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"engine light kept going on and off. error code read turbo prob but when I brought it in, the VVT had significant metal shavings in it. May be a factory TSB out on this engine and am awaiting news from dealer"

Anonymous, ON (2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Broken rod during a trip we were on. rebuilt short block was put in the car."

Anonymous, SC (2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
    Turbo or supercharger

"Turbo Charger bearing failure. Insurance contract purchased from dealer with vehicle October 2018 covered 100% cost of complete new Turbo as bearing itself was not replaceable. Insurance was within days of expiring when issue appeared. Very fortunate to avoid very costly repair. This insurance plan is no longer available."

Controls not available on infotainment screen

"I brought my Santa Fe to the dealer I purchased it from when brand new to update the GPS system that is built in with the Infotainment screen. The system still works, but the streets need to be updated. Hyundai offers updates online and offered to install it for me for $180 however, when we picked up the car, the work order states no update available for model radio, need to replace the map memory SD card to update the maps. I was disappointed since I took the 100,000 mile 10 year upgrade policy Since my vehicle is under that Mileage and year. Also, there is downloads available on the Hyundai website, so I dont understand why they cant update the Maps before my policy runs out November 2024. Weve dealt with this problem for many years When traveling to an address that is not listed so I have to go to Google maps for directions."
