    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Android Auto

"Android Auto is great when it's working properly. However, sometimes it fails to connect. Frustrating."

    Anonymous A., SC (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)
    Display screen freezes up

"On my fourth phone connected to display, I do not have built in navigation, and very frequently the vehicle will advise no phone connected. When trailer towing on tow/haul mode over any extended time the display will always at some point advise the trailers NOT connected. The Ford dealer states it's the trailer and the trailer repair shop advises it not the trailer. Three times since I've owned the vehicle the dash has gone completely blank/black, but only for a second or so.The rear camera has had to be recentered twice as it has been dislodged in its housing."

    Anonymous A., CA (2021 Ford F-150 XL 3.5-L V6 turbo)

"Start vehicle and it freezes on opening screen causing problems if you have to back up because the camera wont come on. Usually within 5-10 minutes it goes black for a few minutes and the reboots and works. Extremely frustrating."

    Anonymous A., IL (2021 Ford F-150 XL 3.3-L V6)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"Sometimes it just puts me in the middle of no where, no road or nothing. I have to shut the engine down and open the door for at least 10 seconds to reset it."

    Anonymous A., AL (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)
    Over-the-air software update failed

    "Cant turn on Automatic updates"

    Anonymous A., KY (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)
    Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"My iphone will not stay connected during a call and I live near Charlotte, NC. The call will constantly drop from sync back to my phone during calls that negatively affect my business. Having to apologize for missed communication is always a negative. Especially for a SBE/WBE"

    Anonymous, NC (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)
    Voice control commands

"Wont recognize name for phone calls. It works later after I place call from phone."

    What Owners Say

    12V battery

"battery went completely dead. there was a charging problem with the alternator and both were replaced."

    Anonymous, UT (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)

"Battery failed early, it is an AGM battery. Electrical load with approach lighting technology on this vehicle is high. Infotainment and features were limited as soon as vehicle was turned off with this condition. Barely made cutoff to have this fixed under warranty."

    Anonymous, CO (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)

"Problem started at about 2.5 years of truck age. First started when the temperature got below 41 degrees. The problem also happened if the truck was not driven every day for a number of miles. Truck was in the shop a few times but nothing changed. I asked for a new battery but it was declined twice. I finally strongly insisted the third time and got one but I paid for it and received no money back on the original battery warranty.I have only had the new battery a few weeks so it is too soon to tell if the fix worked. I believe the battery was the problem as the voltage was always low when I encountered the problem. I know because I checked it when I had the problem and when I did not.The voltage was OK when I did not have the problem."

    Anonymous, SC (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)
    Interior lights

"Started after 18 months interior lights wouldnt come on when doors were opened"

    Anonymous A., KY (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)
    Keyless entry

"I brought the truck back to the dealer 3 or 4 times for the same problem. They said they don't know what the problem is. As ND told me to contact ford"

    Anonymous, NY (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)
    Other electrical system problem

"It took multiple trips but the three 110 volt outlets never worked from day 1. After two years the battery caused problems with the passenger door locks and since battery voltage was low exterior lighting would not go on. The radio also immediately shut off instead of playing for some minutes after engine shutoff. Truck never failed to start though."

    Anonymous, SC (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)

"There is a known issue with the battery and charging system which causes the battery to have insufficient voltage for some functions, like auto stop/start to conserve fuel."

    Anonymous A., NC (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Rough shifting

"occasionally during downshifting transmission bangs and/or clunks"

    Anonymous, MI (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)

"The vehicle was still under the original warranty (3 years/36K miles) and the transmission was rebuilt by the dealer because of a failed module. I was without the vehicle for two weeks while this was being done. Essentially, under certain conditions, it would shift hard from 6th to 7th gear during acceleration, and would shift hard from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd when it was downshifting as you approach a stop. It was a known issue with the vehicle and there was a TSB out for it, which prompted the transmission rebuild. Since having it repaired, there have been no issues."

    Anonymous, PA (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)

"Experienced for 6 mos. Resolved in March 2024. Dealer performed special cleaning and maintenance and resolved"

"the transmission shifted hard when starting from a stop, at low RPM."

    Anonymous, UT (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)

"There was a recall for some electronic part of the tyranny. I received the recall when the truck had 6000 miles on it. Did that wait cause the lack of smoth shifting?"

    Anonymous, NY (2021 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)
    Slipping transmission

    "Rough shifting and skipping"

    Anonymous, AL (2021 Ford F-150 King Ranch 5.0-L V8)

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

"factory re calls have had 3 since purchase, not serious repairs, wiper motor, faulty bolt somewhere?"

    Anonymous, AZ (2021 Ford F-150 XL 3.3-L V6)

"I noticed that the passenger carpet was wet, thinking that there was a warranty leak somewhere, I took it to the dealer I purchased from. Turns out that one of the drain holes located below the windshield was plugged somewhere. They said "you must drive on a lot of dirt roads". No, maybe 1 mile of gravel road in the history of the truck. I do park it outside, but I wash it all of the time. Basically Ford told me that you can't park an F-150 outside. Warranty claim was denied. $6,000 of damage, had to replace carpet, pad, blower motor, fire wall, etc. Now the truck smells like mildew."

    Anonymous A., MN (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)

"When i am towing and going uphill and the engine is reving, it makes a loud noise on left near the windshield and firewall. Also since the beginning she has a knocking noise seems to arise from the front suspension."

    Anonymous, CO (2021 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)
