    Reliability

    Overall Reliability

We expect the 2025 Pacifica Hybrid to be less reliable than other new cars. This prediction is based on the Pacifica and the previous data of the Pacifica Hybrid.

    Common Trouble Spot

    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Android Auto

"For the last 4 years occasionally the android auto will just not connect. We have tried resetting the car (dealership taught us how) changing USB cables and it will still happen randomly and then come back on the dealership has never been able to figure out why but it is always fixed eventually with enough plug and unplugging of the USB cords or time."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)
    Apple CarPlay

"USB stopped connecting. Would not display car play nor charge. Pulling a fuse resolves for a while but seems to pop up periodically."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

"Multiple times a year (5-10) my apple car play will not recognize that my phone is plugged in at all, though my phone will recognize that it is charging . Like its other electrical issues, it will fix itself when Ive turned the car on and off. Often lately, it will not play sound from my phone, though if I turn on the radio a moment and go back to CarPlay, I can get the sound to work again. Its a pain, but its a minor thing. I do not use the Bluetooth, so this error is always with the usb."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Hybrid 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)
    Backup or other camera/sensors

"The back-up camera kept shutting off. I would back out of the garage and it would be working, I would back out of the parking space at the grocery store and it wouldn't work. The side cameras always worked during this time. The camera was replaced twice over a two year period. Finally at the 3rd camera replacement a technician check the connector in the back door. The plastic connector on the wiring harness, to the back-up camera, had a crack in it, so the rear wiring harness was totally replaced. It has worked fine since being replaced."

    Anonymous A., IL (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)
    Display screen goes blank

"Turning radio off blanks entire display screen. Last station played and whether muted or not is reset every time car is restarted. These problems are annoying but minor in our overall use/enjoyment of the car."

    Anonymous A., CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)
    In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"Phones intermittently lose GPS capability, especially when plugged in or bluetooth connected to infotainment system. They sometimes seem to drop signal at the worst possibl moment. Car's own GPS system does not work and thinks we are 1000 miles from where we actually are."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)
Rear entertainment system (e.g., DVD player, rear screen)

"One of two rear screens quit working"

    Anonymous, MN (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Touring-L 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

"Built in media player gets locked, won't take input from front panel nor backseat screens. Must pull two fuses under hood and wait 1 min to sufficiently "reboot" A/V part of entertainment system in order to resolve. Happens intermittently so dealer has never reproduced in 4 trips to svc center. Typ happens in middle of cross-country family trips when depending on media player to entertain 3 kids for hours. Most disappointing and infuriating part of ownership experience, by far."

    Anonymous A., TX (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    Refrigerant leaks

"No more AC. Not sure what the problem is as booked an appointment with dealership. Unfortunately they already told me it may bot be fixed within a day"

Anonymous, BC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Hybrid 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

"We believe the refrigerant leak was caused by a large pothole that was not visible from the driver seat. I don't believe it is necessarily a defect in the car."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    EV Battery

Electric/hybrid battery pack failure, replacement or malfunction, or cooling.

    What Owners Say

    Electric/hybrid battery pack replacement

"Battery stopped charging. Was replaced under warranty."

    Anonymous A., VT (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Touring-L 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)
    Other electric/hybrid battery problem

"The Pacifica has had multiple recalls on the battery and charging system. We are currently on the second recall that has had no specific fix, and the warning to not charge and not park near a structure or other vehicle."

Anonymous, MD (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    EV Charging

Won't charge at home; won't work with some public chargers; won't fully charge; charge connection; charge port door.

    What Owners Say

    Won't charge at home

"Van threw code P0E5E when charging and charging stops. Need new onboard AC charger."

Anonymous, PA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)
    Won't fully charge

    "Dealer state battery needs replacement"

    Anonymous A., NC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Hybrid 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Electrical failure

"It is a plug in hybrid and the car was just dead. Needed to be towed to the dealership for repair"

Anonymous, BC (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Hybrid 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    Other electrical system problem

"These electrical problems only happen once or twice a year and resolve themselves by turning the car on and off. Ive never had to take it in to get these things fixed as far as I recall. My biggest problem with this vehicle is not about anything listed. It is the fact that it has had so many recalls, and the worst one (which told us not to plug it in until it could be resolved) lasted 8 months before they could find a fix. This hybrid model cost $20000 more than the non-hybrid, and for 8 months it could only be used as a gas vehicle, costing me around around $2500 more in gas than I would normally spend, and Chrysler has done nothing to attempt to make that right. The number of times its been unusable or semi usable due to recalls is the number one reason I would likely not make the same choice again, but at the time it was the only hybrid van option on the market."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Hybrid 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.

    What Owners Say

Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"In the past year I have noted small bubbles and the beginnings of chips on the hood of the car only they are almost unnoticeable but they annoy me."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"transmission started making grinding noise. Diagnosed as bad gear. Transmission part back ordered. Van in shop for 3 months."

Anonymous, PA (2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited 3.6-L V6 plug-in hybrid)

    Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

    What Owners Say

    Seat controls - manual

"Second row seat back will not lock in place making the seat unusable. Taking to dealership on Monday to hopefully get it fixed. You always ding this model for just about everything. I have owned over 100 vehicles in my life, and this is by far the most practical vehicle I have ever owned. Roomy, comfortable, very economical considering it's size (33 miles electric range which handles most daily tasks), 7 passengers or huge cargo capability, and, despite numerous recalls, it has never left me stranded. We are seriously considering replacing it with another Pacifica hybrid and probably would have already done so if we could find one that isn't black, silver, or white."
