"Brakes squealed in temps below 40F when car was new as we live in WI and leased the car in December. Dealer's first attempt to fix at 3000 miles never resolved issued and led to vibration during braking. Dealer supposedly replaced front rotors and pads at 10,000 miles but squealing and vibration returned shortly thereafter. Problem was resolved by having a VW dealer replace all rotors and pads with aftermarket parts that we purchased and had in the trunk. The rotors are Zimmerman and the Pads are PowerStop Z17 ceramic and the squealing and vibration are gone as is the excessive brake dust. The replacement cost was under $1000 including all parts and labor. The A4 is a great car otherwise and we suspect the problem may have been due to the car sitting on the dealer lot for 4 months and rarely being moved as it only had 11 miles when we leased it. We assume the rotors were severely rusted but shame on the dealer for not properly addressing the issue."
