    Acura RDX Road Test

    Introduction

Based on the previous generation Honda CR-V, among compact luxury SUVs, the RDX is benign and unassuming. While it lacks the agility and top notch interior quality of its peers, it's functional, reliable and relatively fuel efficient. One high point is its smooth, powerful V6, which, combined with its six-speed automatic transmission, manages a very respectable 22 mpg overall. Handling is sound but not especially agile and the ride is a little stiff. Controls are frustrating with convoluted touchscreen logic and interior ambiance is rather plain-Jane for a supposedly luxury-class vehicle. Few upscale comfort and technology features are available. Nevertheless, the RDX proved competent all around, and it comes well equipped for the money.

    Summary

    Best Version to Get

We'd spend the extra and get the Technology package. At around $40,000 so-equipped including all-wheel-drive, you get a luxury nameplate for just slightly more money than a loaded Ford Escape.
