Ford Mustang Mach-Es Are Recalled Because of Roof and Windshield Problems
The glass panels weren't properly affixed, risking leaks and detachment
Following action in Canada, Ford has announced two recalls for its Mustang Mach-E electric cars to address potential problems with the panoramic roof glass and windshield. Improper bonding during manufacturing is blamed for both flaws.
The panoramic roof may separate from the vehicle while it’s in motion. An investigation into the root cause is ongoing. The recall is for 13,544 Mustang Mach-Es. The windshields may not have been properly bonded to 17,692 cars, risking detachment.
If either glass panel separates, it could create a road hazard and the risk of a crash.
In both cases, documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that all of the vehicles within the production range of Feb. 24, 2020, to July 18, 2021, have the defect.
Owners with either problem may experience increased wind noise and/or a water leak.
Ford says it isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to these problems.
Mustang Mach-E owners will be contacted starting in late October and directed to go to their local dealership for a repair.

Vehicles recalled:
Roof: 13,544 Mustang Mach-E EVs built between Feb. 24, 2020, and July 18, 2021.
Windshield: 17,692 Ford Mustang Mach-E EVs built between Feb. 24, 2020, and July 18, 2021.
The problem: The panoramic glass roof panel and/or windshield may not have been properly installed, risking leaking and even detachment.
The fix: Dealerships will apply additional urethane adhesive, then reinstall the roof panel or windshield. The repair will be done free of charge.
